Creating Stylized 3D Illustrations Using Grease Pencil & Deep Paint

To introduces a fast, artist-friendly pipeline for producing stylized 3D illustrations in Blender using Deep Paint to achieve a distinctive, hand-crafted aesthetic.

Why I Create (15 mins)

Grease Pencil Basics (15 mins)
Learn how to draw lines in 3D space, paint with Grease Pencil, and master the core tools you'll use throughout this workflow.

GP to Mesh & Modeling (25 mins)
A hands-on demonstration of converting Grease Pencil strokes to mesh and modeling simple structures—such as a small house—to build the foundation of your illustration.

Painting and Touch-Up with Deep Paint (25 mins)
Texture painting using Deep Paint with detailed touch-up work using DPM to bring a painterly, stylized finish to your models.

Q&A (10 mins)
Open session for questions, clarifications, and workflow discussions.

Participants are required to bring their own laptops (please ensure your device is fully charged or bring an external power source).

Mr. Tada started his Art and VFX career at Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) in Tokyo, working on games. He then moved to Los Angeles, USA to work on VFX shows with Digital Domain as a 3D Generalist/TD. Afterwards, he moved to New Zealand to work with Weta Digital as Lead and Senior Lighting TD for VFX films such as Avatar, The Hobbit, and Planet of the Apes. In 2018, he worked as Senior TD at Industrial Light & Magic in Canada. Mr. Tada currently runs an online art school as a Founder.
